Bailey and Daphne from Rabbits Annual
To Breed or Not to Breed
"We all know there's nothing quite as cute as a litter of baby bunnies. The desire to let your rabbit breed "just once" before neutering is a great temptation. But it is a temptation that the informed rabbit "parent" must resist if he really does love his rabbit and have the rabbit's best interest at heart. Here are just a few of the reasons NOT to breed your rabbit."

This article by Dana Krempels, Ph.D. covers such issues as overpopulation, "Easter bunnies", health risks, and more. Highly recommended for anyone considering breeding their rabbit and / or interested in rabbit welfare.

Dr. Krempels has a variety of good articles on rabbit care, biology, and veterinary concerns at her website. Definitely worth a look!

Remember Lily? We introduced Lily to you several months ago along with our article, "Letting Rabbits Loose". Lily was an abandoned rabbit with a life-threatening injury. If you've been wondering what happened to Lily or if you like stories with happy endings, you'll want to read "Lily's Story".
Both articles are available on our Articles page.
