Dr. Mark Burgess has a new veterinary novel available
|
Dr. Burgess of Southwest Animal Hospital has announced the release of his new novel, "Dog Daze and Cat Naps-- a Vet
Student's Odyssey." The novel is a humorous take on four years in veterinary school. Although it's a work of fiction,
many of the events in the book are based on real events from his past. It tells the tale of a veterinary student's
adventures -- and misadventures-- as he tackles the challenges of the curriculum at a fictitious veterinary college
in Oregon. If you like to laugh, are curious about the veterinary profession, or just have a love of animals, then
you will find much to enjoy in this story. Besides entertaining the reader, the novel gives an inside look at modern
animal medicine, while promoting the veterinary profession to the public.

The book cover art was created by Emil Knutson, a long time artist in Medford, Oregon, where the author grew up.
The publisher is Wildside Press, and the book is available via their online site, as well as on Amazon.com and
through Barnesandnoble.com.
From Dr. Burgess: "I'm a Portland area veterinarian, 1986 graduate of Oregon State University's vet program, and
have been practicing (mostly on exotic pet species) for over 23 years in the greater Portland area. I own Southwest
Animal Hospital in Beaverton, Oregon. In addition I help teach a portion of the exotic animal medicine curriculum at
OSU;s vet school, and at Portland State University's vet technician program. I've helped the Rabbit Advocates with
medical and surgical cases numerous times over the years, and appreciate the work that your group has done to help
bunnies in our area."
